[edit]I think it is a very questionable claim that divine retribution is the unifying theme in the Odyssey, or even a unifying one. The Greek gods hated immorality, to be sure, but are just as happy punishing people who have made good, as when Zeus protector of suppliants with Poseidon punished the Phaeacians for being good hosts. Agamemnon's murder is repeated again and again, but the events that put it in a moral light - the murder of Iphigenia, and all that - are not mentioned. All in all, I would say the poem is a creation of a time before Nemesis played an important role.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Conversion script (talk • contribs) 15:43, 25 February 2002

Specifically, I merged the following from Nemesis (disambiguation) to Nemesis (mythology):
- The name Nemesis is related to the Greek word νείμειν, meaning "to give what is due".
Someone who knows the topic may want to check this for accuracy. --Cjmnyc 22:34, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Nemesis is also the title of a 1917 H.P. Lovecraft poem, quoted at the begining of his story, The Haunter of the Dark. The poem can be found here http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Nemesis—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.229.193.152 (talk • contribs) 14 November 2007
Removed halo 3 clan reference; not pop culture, not noteworthy enough for an encyclopedic entry. 67.193.211.142 (talk) 04:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Rumored Sun Companion
[edit]I'd originally thought it was just a plot device on Eureka, but apparently there really is a theory that our sun might be part of a binary system, with the companion being nicknamed Nemesis. Does this Nemesis have a page? If so, should it be included here? If not, where should I suggest it be created? Whether or not it's true, I'd like to learn more about the theory. - Yes, this disambiguation page now has a link to the Nemesis (hypothetical star) page. Does that answer your questions? --DavidCary (talk) 23:25, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
