"...can only express himself through playing the piano"

Not so: as evidenced in the article, he can also express himself by sketching. Can anyone reword? I'm too tired ;-) — Matt Crypto 02:45, 24 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tomas Strnad

[edit]

Here's an article that may be worth looking at: http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/this_britain/story.jsp?story=642025Teklund 12:30, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Piano-playing ability

[edit]

The 6 o'clock news on Radio 4 today said that staff at the hospital had denied the claims made in the Mirror that the his piano playing ability had been exaggerated. Jooler 20:35, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also of note: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-14971211 Quoting: "It was at the Medway Maritime Hospital that he drew a picture of a grand piano and then apparently "stunned" health and social workers with his performance at the keyboard.

However, newspaper reports now suggest he was only able to play one note continuously."

Might need a change. --144.32.126.11 (talk) 12:07, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Something's wrong here...

[edit]

"Andreas Grassl (born October 25, 1984)..."

"BBC News reported on 29 May 2005 that a Czech musician called Klaudius Kryšpín, the drummer of a famous Czech rock band Pražský výběr ("Prague Selection"), had rung the helpline, offering information that Piano Man may be a pianist called Tomáš Strnad, who along with Mr Kryšpín was a member of the tribute band Ropotamo in the 1980s."

If Grassl was born in 1984, how could he play piano in a tribute band in 1980s (the man was 5 years old in 1989)? Yes, this theory was proved to be wrong, but why taking it seriously if it had such an obvious contradiction? --Dijxtra 12:04, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While the Piano Man was still unidentified, estimates of his age were quite uncertain. I haven't re-checked the sources, but I think some said he might be in his thirties. I agree it's still a strange theory, but never the less, it made it into the media, and this article is about the media coverage, as much as it is about the young man himself.--Niels Ø 14:23, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Privacy

[edit]

I think it would be fair to delete the last sentence, about rumours of his whereabouts in 2007. That has nothing to do with the 'Piano Man' episode which is his reason to be notable so far. Actually I think it is bad enough for the article to reveal his name. Former psychiatric patients should have some right to privacy, despite the extreme tabloid media hype of this case. The reason for his being notable in the public definately ends when he returns to Germany and the case is solved. There is no need to write what he does in 2007 because then you could claim the same reason for following him the rest of his life. --Sasper (talk) 21:32, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Subject of JJ Abrams film "Stranger"?

[edit]

After reading the description of new JJ Abrams film "Stranger", there seems to be similarity with Andreas Grassl (the beach, piano music, sewn mouth = mute, etc.)
