Inclusion of "consistently ranked among the top and most prestigious universities in the United States and the world" in the lede

GGO111 is insisting that the lede of this article include the following sentence and sources: "It is consistently ranked among the top and most prestigious universities in the United States and the world.^[1]^[2]^[3]"

Unfortunately, those sources don't support the assertion. In fact, rankings from a single year or even a few different years cannot support that statement. Moreover, it's inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to synthesize a few different rankings to make this kind of claim. We need some high quality, independent sources that explicitly support these claims, especially in the lede. ElKevbo (talk) 18:25, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

At the least, these references only back up the "United States" part of the statement. All three of the cited sources list only US institutions; a credible source would also need to back up the "and the world" part of this statement. Captain Prog (talk) 14:26, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion at WP:HIGHERED REP doesn't provide a clear road map, but I do see the point about the potentially OR nature of referring to it as "consistently ranked." Maybe a more appropriate way to integrate the reputation into the lede would be to reference some of the individual rankings themselves. Or if a more synthetic approach is preferred, Harvard University gives us an example of it done with reliable secondary sources directly making the assertion of its prestige (footnote 9). Antisemitism

The is no mention within the article of the history of antisemitism at Johns Hopkins, such as the university's Jewish quota system during the 1940s and 1950s. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 11:14, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
