Chaos was originally Garland, the first boss of the game. The power of the Four Fiends (四天王 Shittenou) sent him back in time 2000 years at the moment of his defeat, where he then used the power of the four elemental crystals to awaken the very Fiends who sent him there. Creating a bizzare time-loop (did Garland awaken the Fiends before or after the awakened Fiends sent him back to awaken them?).

Really, I don't see why Chaos should have his own page, or why the Last Boss article itself should exist. --Boco XLVII 23:42, 9 Jan 2005 (UTC)
