Hello, could you please provide some references for Ben Hughes? I have been unable to verify the existence of this person, let alone to verify the story given. If you cannot provide any proof, I am afraid I will have to conclude the article is a hoax. Thanks. Postdlf 21:00, 8 May 2005 (UTC)
- That was quite a random hoax you pulled, but it wasn't too much trouble to find out that Michael R. Rafferty was actually mayor of Williamsport during the time you attributed to Ben Hughes, who is an individual unknown to google. Thanks for playing. Don't come back. Postdlf 21:14, 8 May 2005 (UTC)
This user subsequently e-mailed me the following:
- After spending several hours writing a detailed history of Ben Hughes I am outraged that it was taken down so quickly without a chance for me to respond. I have no local copy of what was written, so all of that writing seems to be for naught. I would greatly appreciate it, if at least you were able to provide me with a copy of what was written for my benefit.
- That being said, I will have to explain my error. Due to an error in the document I have before me, I mistakingly made the assertion that Ben Hughes was mayor between the years of 2000-2002. But in fact, he was mayor from 1990-1992. I realize that's quite a jump to make, but time flies as you get older, as I'm sure you understand. I searched around the internet, but didn't find any results, but if you would like to confirm this story and scandal please call either the Office of the Mayor 570-327-7566 or the City Clerk at 570-327-7504. I just called, however no one was there, it being Sunday and all. However, I will also call tomorrow, as I hope you will to confirm all of this business and get the article back on the site.
What I confirmed was that Jessie L. Bloom was actually the mayor of Williamsport from 1988-1992, followed by Phillip E. Preziosi from 1992-1996.[1] Nice try, though—I'm surprised by your persistence. Postdlf 21:56, 8 May 2005 (UTC)
