Talk:Cat boat
Appearance
Catamarans are often called "cat". The stub here does not explain whther a "cat boat" is a "cat", so could somebody explain this some more, please? Kosebamse 07:00, 17 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- The term "Cat boat" was in common use when I learned to sail ca. 1954. It refers to a style of one-person boat similar to those seen in Winslow Homer paintings, etc. I had forgotten about the use of "cat" as an abbreviation for catamaran. Catamarans were quite rare at that time in the New England area. Wake 22:09, 17 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I added a "See also" to cover them. I hope somebody has a better description of a cat boat than I had. Wake 22:09, 17 Dec 2003 (UTC)
