User talk:Przepla/Archive 1
Hello, Przepla. Welcome to Wikipedia.
A few tips for you to start going. (I'll send more if I see that I can help you :-)
- Just edit stuff off the cuff for a while. We like that!
- When you have time, check out Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers + the links in there.
- You can sign your stuff on talk pages with ~~~~ It will convert to your username + the time. "anon" is fine too.
- If puzzled, put a question on Wikipedia:Village pump, or feel free to ask me on my talk page if it's a very general question.
- Most of all, have fun but take our work seriously!

I hope you are not one of those people who argue that there was no feel of ethnicity before XIX century at all :)
There is also Polish wikipedia, you may want to contribute there as well
Nod, that is very nice that way. Thanks :-) ant
I think your having a hard time understanding things. You are asking so many strange questions and making so many misinterpretations of what I said that I am going to give you the benifit of the doubt and assume you are having some sort of translation problems. If this is not the case, please correct me. If you re-read and click on the links I gave, you might understand a bit better. Otherwise, ask me any questions in my talk. Someone hass done a bit of editing to Oder-Neisse line, could you have a look at it and see what you think - the user that did it is apparently Dutch. PMA 21:34, Feb 11, 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you, for pointing it out. Those edits were OK. I removed only sentence about disrespecting minority rights, since I think those are now respected (they weren't some years ago.) Przepla 22:10, 11 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks. i remained mystified by people like User:Cautious - he said people insert "Nazi times propaganda" but he himself sees nothing wrong with insterting the Russian-infuenced propaganda of 1945-89 that you pointed out about on the Oder-Neisse talk page. PMA 22:16, Feb 11, 2004 (UTC)
Cautious/145 and Nico have a history of edit wars with regard to Oder-Neisse related articles (Silesia, Stettin etc) so rather then risk another bunfight i could see was coming, i protected it and am waiting for a neutral person to devise a settlement. sorry. PMA 19:15, Mar 2, 2004 (UTC)
- Very well. Perhaps it is time to switch to non controversial topics. <sigh> Przepla 19:59, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- sorry mate - im glad to know you and respect you a great deal. PMA 20:09, Mar 2, 2004 (UTC)
SDPL
[edit]- Well, you're apparently right. All I can say is that this abbreviation seems weird to me. Anyay, I corrected it. No need to revert anymore. --Kpalion 19:18, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Thank you for moving some text to "Word-order in Latin"
[edit]Hi Przepla, Just wanted to thank you moved a piece of text to a better place. I've been thinking myself of moving, and I really was fed up I didn't move it. (I was too depressive to word at Wikipedia.) But when I came back to move it I saw you moved it, thanx for that :-) A wiki like Wikipedia is really great, isn't it? When someone doesn't finnish something for whatever reason, someone else can finnish it. See you, Paul/laudaka (add me to your Y!M/AIM/etc. list if you like!) | Talk 19:44, 1 May 2004 (UTC)
Moving pages
[edit]I've done the moves you requested on Speedy Deletions. You probably could have done them yourself. I'm going to leave the redirs alone, though. - UtherSRG 12:39, 6 May 2004 (UTC)
If the destination is a redirect without any previous edits, the move will work. - UtherSRG 12:50, 6 May 2004 (UTC)
Moving pages (again)
[edit]I've done the move to Jacek Kuron for you. You can list it on Wikipedia:Cleanup, that's what it's there for. -- Graham :) | Talk 21:33, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Brutality of Prussian regime
[edit]"The following is from the " Political History of Poland" written by E.H. Lewinski-Corwin and published in 1917. It provides another perspective on how things were viewed around the time of WW1. There are some additional details that usually are not covered in the histories written today. The following encompass a time frame from Early Poland to World War I."

Hi Przepla. User:PolishPoliticians, who is, I think, the same as User:Gdansk and User:Szczecin, is making trouble over at Szczecin, changing around the opening. (I've also been warring with him over whether the city should be called "Stettin" at appropriate points in the history section, although I'm not really sure what the article did before). Take a look when you have the chance. john k 05:13, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Hey Przepla - the changes look good to me, although perhaps we could cut down the number of subsections. Thanks for doing this. I just have no patience with this user, and he spurs me on to impatience and poor decision-making. john k 23:11, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Dąbie is a town in Kolo County east of Poznan and Konin, so this a bad idea to mix it with Dabie districts in Szczecin. In my opinion Szczecin-Dabie is a good article name for a Szczecin district. If you have an updated districs list feel free to make upgrades and changes. I planned to write a short article about every Szczecin districs, but if you are a local you are the better person to do this. SzczecinCity 16:07, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I have several volumes of Historia Pomorza edited by Gerard Labuda, Ksiazeta Pomorza Zachdniego by Zygmunt Boras plus some other sources. I will try to make some historical cotributions in the future, but my time is rather limited at this moment. Lookin for a good cooperation in Wikipedia. SzczecinCity 16:43, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Tak w zasadzie to nie mnie powinieneś pytać o to, dlaczego to nieszczęsne formerly Stettin bywa uważane za obraźliwe. To chyba raczej argumenty kol. PolishPoliticians.
Naming issues
[edit]I have made a proposition in Talk:Gdansk/Naming convention#Other_concepts. In short, it's sing most controversial names when first name appears in artcile and making a msg saying that the names are controversial and pointing to article explaining why. Please, contribute your opinion.Szopen 10:54, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Please take a look at Talk:Partisan and Wikipedia:Requests for comment/CVA. [[User:Halibutt|Halibutt]] 12:44, Aug 3, 2004 (UTC)
Regarding your rv of the article in question:
- The purpose of protecting an article is to calm a dispute. Your accompanying yr rv with a deadline is IMO likely to have the effect of inflaming this dispute, contrary to the intent of protection.
- You should be aware that protection is accompanied by reversion to a state from before the dispute.

Naming wars
[edit]Since you were either directly or indirectly once involved into edits revolving around "proper" naming of cities like Gdansk/Danzig etc i thought you may be interested in my proposition in User:Szopen/NamingWar. I would want to create a way aimed at stopping the revert wars in future - through creating something like a msg (in see also list or header) explaining that's there is compromise and why, and by linking to the article explaining changes of the statuses of the Royal Prussia province (I would prefer it ot have it as separate article, not scatter it in plethora other articles). I would be happy to hear from you. Szopen 09:17, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)
The 100
[edit]I'll try and respond more fully tomorrow - I'm just about to go to bed. I can't recall the reasons why I made that statement: probably just one of my many over-the-top reactions! ;-) However, there are a few that seem to be missing:
- the guys that invented the transistor
- Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive (and Gandhi should have been higher)
- Francis Crick, James D. Watson
- Winston Churchill
- the algorithm chap
I haven't read the book, so I'm only commenting on the list. (You can probably tell that I've got a slight British bias.) Sorry to see your Wikistress level is off the scale: I fully understand how that can happen. Cheers, [[User:Noisy|Noisy | Talk]] 23:07, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)
