Two mega-templates
[edit]Note there was another version of this large template at Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Poland/Articles, with DIFFRENT links and existing subarticles (mostly 'to do' list). I moved it here. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 18:52, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

Fait accompli/used templates
[edit]Since I seem to the only one working on this project anymore, I decided to implement my own version. It may not be as poetic as some other proposed variants, but I hope it is clear to all non-Polish readers, which, after all, form the majority of readers of en-wiki, and which, accidentaly, might have never heard of Piasts, Jagiellons or partitions. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:31, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Update: since like we are using specific short thematic templates instead of the mega-ones proposed above. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:37, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

Templates
[edit]Hello,
I just updated the Culture of Poland template. I've also worked on the History of Poland and Polish statehood templates. If you like the direction in which I've taken them, I can keep applying it to other templates, while changing the color of the "title bands" (so far we have blue and grey bands). That, along with the image, will be the distinguishing factor among the Polish templates, while maintaining a consistent "look and feel". For now, however, I'll keep away from the more complicated templates (e.g. Politics of Poland), just to get a feel for what people think. Appleseed 03:12, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
- Looks good. I am thinking how can we link the templates together (so you can easily navigate from one templated series to another). Any idea? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 23:37, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
- One possibility I can think of is having a high-level "Poland" template with links to other templates such as History, Politics, Culture, Military, etc. This could be accomplished by prepending the high-level "Poland" template to each of the subtemplates in the series, creating an illusion reminiscent of expanding menus. It's a bit of a hack, but it's doable. However, it forces all the templates in the series to have a similar look and feel, so I don't think it would be possible to include the bottom-of-page templates (e.g. Voivodships) with right-hand-side templates (e.g. History). Appleseed 17:38, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- By the way, if we ever create a "Science and Technology in Poland" template, I bet Matejko's Kopernik painting would look great in it. :) Appleseed 03:14, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
- Oh yes :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 23:37, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, does there exist an article like "Science and Technology in Poland"? I couldn't find anything of the sort. If it exists, I'll create the template with that as the main article and throw in some other links. Appleseed 17:38, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Periodization
[edit]I would like to adjust the History of Poland (966-1385) article and the History of Poland (1385-1569) so that the Piast era ends, and the Jagiellon era begins, in 1370, not 1385. I think that is more appopriate because the time of the Angevins is more closely associated with the Jagiellons, not the Piasts (e.g. the events with Jagwiga, Jagiełło, and the Union of Krewo). I believe that is how Jasienica divides his books. So what does everyone think (if anyone reads this board at all)? Appleseed (Talk) 13:37, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
