On 14 September 2022, it was proposed that this article be moved to Temple (building type). The result of the discussion was not moved.

Judaism: Temple vs. Synagogue

Considering synagogues as temples in Jewish religion is wrong. Temples and synagogues are not the same. The introductory paragraph is misleading. George Rodney Maruri Game (talk) 17:08, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That was the least of the problems, though you are perhaps seeing a definable difference between the words that doesn't actually exist. The English terms for different places of worship are a matter of convention than any really clear distinction, & lots of synagogues use "Temple" in their name, for historical reasons the article explains. I've rewritten the lead, as churches and mosques are not "temples" either, in normal usage. Johnbod (talk) 20:59, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
