That's a sound entry! Vet my changes, would you? Wikipedia still has no Kingdom of Arles entry. Look at the brief bit on medieval Arles (don't be rough on me: I was working beyond my competence there), which should have a tag: Main Entry is at Kingdom of Arles. Just a thought... --Wetman 05:23, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Your changes look OK: there's one bit of punctuation that doesn't look quite right to me, and I'd like to double-check your "at Arles" addition if and when I can get more detailed sources - but neither seem to require urgent change (if change at all). If nobody gets in first, I will probably try a Kingdom of Arles or Kingdom of Burgundy article sometime - but it'll need a bit of research and thinking through first. Though I'll probably try tidying up at least some of the names in the Arles article meanwhile. PWilkinson 18:51, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)

If and when you're ready to bring the article back to the main space, just let me know and I'll undelete it for you, and then you can just replace the existing material with what you've worked on. Nomination of Data exchange language for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Data exchange language is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Data exchange language until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. See discussion. No formal definition. --Chire (talk) 08:33, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit]I think it was a mistake to delete the page. Arpad Szabo was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and he published widely on the history of exact sciences, see here. See also this: [1]. Kope (talk) 22:19, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- The only people who will have considered it a mistake, I'm afraid, are those who, like you and me, already knew of Arpad Szabo. The article is now in my user space, at User:PWilkinson/Arpad Szabo. It currently says very little - which, I am almost certain, is why it got deleted. Please feel free to edit it, so we can get it up to Wikipedia standards and restored as a Wikipedia article - I don't know Hungarian and I am not a professional mathematician, so that gives you two big advantages over me. List of Havyakas
[edit]Question on your de-prod on List of Havyakas. I agree that prodding a blank list is problematic--it looks devious. However, none of that information was sourced, so removing all of it was acceptable. Some of the people, in fact, must be removed per WP:NLIST, because they're listing living people as having a particular characteristic without reference (either on the list or on the target article). What then should be done if an article has no verifiable content? Should we keep all of the content in unverified then go to AfD? There's a proposal at WT:INDIA#List of members of X caste that discusses this issue you might be interested in (basically, extended the BLP protections on ethnicity to cover caste, as they have exactly the same effect, or maybe more so, in India). Battle of Gabai
[edit]Created effectively in one edit, no wikilinks or accessible references, not even an assertion of notability for the game. I wonder where the text comes from? I've restored this now (an TPH is innocent this time), cheers Jimfbleak - talk to me? 17:04, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- The link you provided was identical with the article. Once I found that I proposed speedy deletion as a copyvio. Honour is therefore satisfied, but I suspect the battle itself, rather than the gaming bovine scatology, might well be notable. If you are a battle historian this may be right up your street. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 18:51, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
- For the moment, I have recreated the article as a redirect to Spitamenes - which is itself both poorly written and appallingly referenced but almost certainly not a copyvio (and is certainly improvable, in both language and references). I suspect that that might have been the result of the AfD if it had gone the full week - if, as is quite possible, Arrian only gave the battle three sentences, there would probably be plenty of reliable sources but mostly doing little more than paraphrasing Arrian. Contested proposed deletion of Al Ansar Club (Libya)
[edit]About you contested the proposed deletion of Al Ansar Club (Libya) on the grounds that the club had played in the Libyan Cup. Are you able to support this claim with reliable sources? Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:05, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- It's over three weeks ago and I don't remember exactly what I had found then. However, given that it was a PROD only a day from expiry and I will have found it while skimming through WP:PRODSUM, I may have assumed (possibly rashly) that Libyan Cup 2008–09 – First Round, Libyan Cup 2008–09 – Second Round and 2009–10 Libyan Cup – Round of 32, while not themselves reliable sources, were based on reliable sources. The club is listed as Al Ansaar in each of these, but the links go through to Al Ansar Club (Libya) and in my experience, that kind of discrepancy is common in transliterations from Arabic. I would also mention that if, as in this case, I say something like "feel free to take to AfD" in the edit summary, it is usually because, while I think I have good grounds for the deprod, I'm not entirely certain of them (though in this case, I think my uncertainty was actually about whether I had interpreted the notability criteria correctly). July 2012 Study of authors of health-related Wikipedia pages
[edit]Dear Author/PWilkinson
My name is Nuša Farič and I am a Health Psychology MSc student at University College London (UCL). I am currently running a quantitative study entitled Who edits health-related Wikipedia pages and why? I am interested in the editorial experience of people who edit health-related Wikipedia pages. I am interested to learn more about the authors of health-related pages on Wikipedia and what motivations they have for doing so. I am currently contacting the authors of randomly selected articles and I noticed that someone at this address recently edited an article on Advance health-care directive. I would like to ask you a few questions about you and your experience of editing the above mentioned article. If you would like more information about the project, please visit my user page (Hydra_Rain) and if interested, please visit my Talk page or e-mail me on nusa.faric.11@ucl.ac.uk. Also, others interested in the study may contact me! If I do not hear back from you I will not contact this account again. Thank you very much in advance. Hydra Rain (talk) 21:42, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello — A few days ago you commented on Vax gold key as part of an AfD discussion. I believe that the article was about two sentences long at the point in time when you saw it. Another editor and I have made some significant improvements to that article since then. If you're still interested in the subject, check it out and see if the article looks like something that would be an acceptable part of Wikipedia moving forward. At the moment the AfD discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vax gold key only has three firm positions stated, which seems very few on which to base a permanent deletion decision, and the discussion closes in less than a day. In any case, thanks again for contributing your perspective. 50.181.30.121 (talk) 21:22, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Removing AfD template
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Francisco Cano. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. This is an automated message from a bot about this edit, where you removed the deletion template from an article before the deletion discussion was complete. Pertaining to your the information you furnished(thanks by the way), I found this which states Al-Hakim al-Kalbi won back what the enemy had conquered from him. Which would insinuate Al-Hakim had lost a battle and with it land/city/region, which he later regained. Possibly a battle in 738? Perhaps that battle in 738 wasn't as final as what some sources state? Thoughts?
Also, on the following page(210) a governor during the Abbassid caliphate, Hisham ibn 'Amr at-Taghlibi(appointed 758CE), conquered lands that Muslim rule had not yet touched. Interesting! --Kansas Bear (talk) 23:49, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

One of the anonymous proposers even used you and your comment on the debate in the first time they tried to erase his entry in english to justify that the author "has no relevance". It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
