Touring Cities
[edit]Nice venue and I can't imagine loading everyone up and doing another city the next day. But I don't know what state that some of these cities are in. It just refers to the United States. I know I could look them up, but can anybody...you know change it?

Lilith Fair
[edit]This article used to say that Lollapalooza was done entirely by men, hence the entirely-female Lilith Fair. That's not correct, as a number of females have performed at Lollapalooza. The very first one, in 1991, had Siouxsie and the Banshees as one of the main headliners, which was obviously fronted by the very female Siouxsie. Other female bands on the tour between 1991 and the start of Lilith fair in 1997 include, just going off ones I recognize offhand, Babes in Toyland (1993), Hole (1995), Elastica (1995), and Patti Smith (1995), --Delirium 07:03, May 2, 2004 (UTC)
As I understand it, the Lilith Fair was created to promote music by women (and for women?), and this is an important aspect of the tour. Lollapalooza may not be entirely men, but it is predominantly men, and is aimed at a male audience. This can be seen in everything on the webpage of the last one in 1999, http://www.lilithfair.com Sarah McLachlan's view is also in an interview at http://www.cybergrrl.com/fs.jhtml?/fun/musicgrrl/lilith/ I think we should have SOMETHING about the female influence/goals of the Lilith Fair in the article. How do you think we should do that? --zandperl 15:26, 2 May 2004 (UTC)
As the person who wrote this ages ago, I must take credit for the concern Delirium refers to above. I got it from an interview McLachlan did during or after the tour ended. I apologize for any mix ups. - Thanks, Hoshie 09:53, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
It's interesting (and sad) that the 2010 revival failed, but it leaves the reader wondering why the original one was discontinued after '99, which they said brought record-high revenue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.41.146.48 (talk) 20:46, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Concern about intro "nicknames"
[edit]I think having negative nicknames in the intro to the article leans too far towards a certain POV. It would be perfectly correct to mention it in a later part of the article, but to immediately list "breast-fest" and "lesbian" whatever, sets an almost misogynist vibe from the start. Please, let us move it. Someone put a little link -a great article on the Lilith Fair in the first actual paragraph, and it has links to other articles that can be constructively used in this piece too... but please, no nicknames in the introduction. Heck, I was ready to dislike the musicians, and I'm a part of the LGBT workgroup!! --leahtwosaints (talk) 12:10, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank you!! I didn't want to be bold here, so I'm glad you did! --leahtwosaints (talk) 21:59, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Fiona Apple Drama
[edit]I remember stories about how she would not go on stage at Lilith, being a prima donna. That Sarah had to goad her onstage. Maybe others remember more. I remember loving that kind of drama. --Lindsay (talk) 21:13, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Origin of the name
[edit]I've always taken for granted (as has everyone I've ever known) that Lilith was taken from the Jewish story of Adam's first proto-feminist wife. But does anyone have a source for this from Sarah McLachlan? Bfootdav (talk) 04:03, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
- The Article really does beg for some kind of connection to be made between the name of the concert tour and the Jewish [mythological] "proto-feminist". I think this might serve as an adequate source:[1]
- But in 1997, it was ladies first, last and in-between on stages across North America during the inaugural voyage of Lilith Fair, an all-female touring festival named for the ancient figure from Jewish folklore purported to be Adam's first, wanton wife.Tym Whittier (talk) 04:46, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

ticket
[edit]I think they should have a ticket gimmick like If you put up a youtube video of you doing your art thing you get better cheaper tickets to promote women doing art This could build venue attendence as well
note: um, that band, with the creepy name, "the police" let everybody that bleached their hair go to a complimentary concert women plus girls putting art n music on youtube is niftylicious —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.211.132.73 (talk) 00:32, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
"Billy Maning Q."
[edit]The line-up for the Village Stage, 1997, includes "Billy Maning Q." (sic). Google returns a few dozen results for "Billy Maning Q", "Billy Maning", "Billy Manning", all of them either nonsense or mirrors of this page or computer-generated nonsense; does someone have a scan of a poster showing the line-up, or a magazine advert? This name sticks out as being particularly odd, possibly a typo (Billie? Manning?). -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 16:44, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Six years on and nobody's responded. I've just googled and had a similar outcome: I 'm going to be bold and delete it for the moment, in lieu of any evidence of her (I presume) existence ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 14:14, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
December 1997 West Palm Beach show
[edit]There was also a one-off show in WPB in December 1997: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1431449/lilith-lineup-update-christmas-bonus-sarah-fans.jhtml — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.82.15.22 (talk) 07:24, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Headline Image
[edit]The current headline image is File:Jp49819980922-lilithfair.jpg. The description implies that it's from one of the Lilith Fair concerts at the Tweeter Center, Mansfield, on 22 September 1998 - but the tour had been over for a month at that point, and the venue wasn't called the Tweeter Centre until 1999. Obviously getting hold of a good image of an event from 1998 is tricky but it would be nice if this could be cleared up. A bit of googling suggests that the venue didn't have a concert on 22 September 1998. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 16:28, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
