Why is this template:sportbio-stub and category:sportspeople stubs, rather than template:athlete-stub and category:athlete stub (or at least sports-bio-stub or sport-bio-stub to match the other stubs—all except for mathbio-stub)? BlankVerse 08:12, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Good question, but there isn't much consistency among stub names, sadly (cricket stub? Buddhistub?). Of a little more immediate concern, though, I've changed "sportsman" to "sportsperson", since several of the stubs were sportswomen. Grutness|hello? 10:12, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Further change to the wording - I've come across several stubs relating to famous racehorses, which would probably be best suited to this stub, so I've altered the wording to allow for that. BTW, in a bit more of an answer to your original question, "athlete" means something different in many countries anyway (in the UK, Australia and NZ, among others, it means what Americans would call a "track and field athlete"). Update: Sportbio-stub still links to sportspeople stubs, athlete-stub is a redirect now of athleticsbio-stub, for track and field athletes, coaches, and others connected with athletics. Grutness...wha? 08:57, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
