I've been using Wikipedia, and making light edits, since almost the very beginning, in the UseMod days.

As such, I'm often bemused to get tips on what Wikipedia is, how it works, etc from Johnnies-come-lately. Which isn't to say that the work of welcoming true newcomers and of building the community and its tools and its standards isn't valuable. Just that, well, a little perspective seems to be lacking, sometimes.
