Article title
[edit]This article has to be moved to "University College Dublin". UCD is the common title and the one the university uses itself. The message box can be fixed to accomodate this.

- The names of UCC and UCD are definitely a problem - after they requested the NUI Senate to change their names to the current official ones the NUI expressed some concern at the exclusive use of "University College" as the name and the ommission of "National University of Ireland" with regard to UCC/UCD. Wikipedia is not a mouth organ for the NUI but its worth considering - definitely the official names are too long for ordinary passages, but acceptable for the article name with redirect? I have moved the article from " National University of Ireland, Dublin" to "University College Dublin - National University of Ireland, Dublin" to reflect its official title. Djegan 17:17, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Lead needs to be overhauled
[edit]It seems to me that the lead section contains far too much information about rankings, currently 3½ paragraphs. Most of the information should be moved to the Rankings section below. Also, it seems to cherry-pick rankings which represent UCD in the best light. Additionally, it claims that the 2019 QS World University Rankings ranks it as the top university in Ireland, which is clearly not the case. I would suggest for that section of the lead to be completely rewritten. --intforce (talk) 01:50, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
- I agree. This whole section reads like advertising. It looks like it was written by the UCD's publicity department.Tooth&Nails1993 (talk) 20:56, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
- OK, I have removed and rewritten a lot of the introduction. It contained a lot of duplicated information and, for some reason, random italics. I'm pretty happy with it now, but look forward to other the opinions of other users.Tooth&Nails1993 (talk) 21:21, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
- Great work! –intforce (talk) 23:32, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
