Welcome to User:Func's talk page.

Start a new thread.

My talk page policy:

  • Generally speaking, I will answer questions on this page. This is especially true if you are editing anonymously, as your IP address--and its associated talk page--might be subject to change.
  • Please "sign" your comments by typing 4 tildes following your message: ~~~~.
  • Please provide enough information for me to assist you, such as the name of an article. As an administrator, I might edit or deal with vandalism on dozens of different articles on any given day.
  • Please be patient if you don't get a response right away. All Wikipedians are volunteers with jobs, a family life, etc.

You stated:

"What, exactly, the hell, is your problem? Using fake blogs to attack people? Why, what's going on? You seem to have a beef, but you aren't making clear what it is, because instead of discussion, you prefer vandalism. Stop, please"

I have been told about this whole issue, and I have made my views here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Johnnopryce

So I think she was saying that

  • 1 Posting large amounts of personal info is a poor idea
  • 2 Making comparisons to the Holocaust is offensive. Allowing people on Wikipedia who do this on Wikipedia is offensive also.

I would kind of agree with her points of view, but the method she has used to get her point across is completely inappropriate, and I stress that I do not condone these methods.

If she has done any other stupid things - she hasn't told me about, but I suspect she may have done if you have blocked her, - then I would view these as inappropriate also.

Kind regards

PS Regardless of the company I keep, I am personally trying to be a good editor. Please take a look at my contributions.

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia.
I actually did not block User:SarahPhelpsjr. Another admin made that decision, and I stood by it, as her vandalism had not abated. Based on certain comments she made, I suspect that "Sarah" may have had an initially bad experience with Wikipedia, and was looking for ways to take out her frustration. If she would like to discuss editing again, she can email me.
Happy editing. Func( t, c, @, ) 18:07, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Silly edits

[edit]

I don't think Ms. Nigro would be too upset: she releases albums called "tunes for the big bassoon", for crying out loud! Actually, my user page silliness is largely Gmaxwell's doing, playing with noinclude: I may bring it back to normal sometime but I admit I do like having a hidden page that says I am a bassoon. ;-) The link to my sad little article for a big-name contrabassoonist does indeed show up on my main user page, of course. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 16:38, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bah, bassoon-cruft! The worst kind of cruft. ;-) Func( t, c, @, ) 18:13, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No, no. The worst kind of cruft is reedcruft: the little bits and shavings that get all over my clothes when I start fixing up reeds... pale arundo cane all over concert black just simply will not do! Mindspillage (spill yours?) 19:25, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anon user, 65.220.54.20

[edit]

This guy is nothing more than a vandal troll, his edits are only for the purpose of stirring things up amongst members for his own personal amuzment. I don't know who else to take this to, but he has been making personal attacks on me in the form of changing my posts and user talk page. This user just gets banned and then uses another ip, this has gotten so ridiculous. I'm almost afraid to post because it will just be changed by him to say something stupid.

Yup, re-engaging in vandalism that he has been warned about and blocked for in the past. I have blocked 65.220.54.20 (talk · contribs) for 1 week. The IP address seems to be static, but let me know if other edits are made that you believe are him. Func( t, c, @, ) 23:43, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

100% sure the member Krazy psyoper and other anon user 69.243.39.117 are one in the same as shown here with similar edits to my posts and talk page. As shown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=69.243.39.117 and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Rob_Liefeld&action=history

I'd like to personally thank you for what you've done. Wikipedia is such a great concept it's sad that there are people like him who want to take a dump on it.

Yes, they appear to be the same individual, though the IPs are different companies:
http://www.completewhois.com/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?query=65.220.54.20
http://www.completewhois.com/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?query=69.243.39.117
One might be his work and the other his home. In any case, with the evidence pointing to no one editing from 69.243.39.117 (talk · contribs) except Krazy psyoper (talk · contribs), I've blocked both of them for a week as well.
Func( t, c, @, ) 02:32, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, anon user is back from his ban and decided to continue with his trolling. Now he's gone to another article the "Heroes Reborn" page that I've edited in the past and has reverted it, as well as the Regular Liefeld article again. He's probably going for a 3RR. It's really sad when people are like this. His valuble contributions since his return: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=65.220.54.20

All you have to do is see my edits and you'll see that they are not biased or troll based like his. Also if you notice all the reverts on the article page the anon user and his other accounts are the only ones who prefer that version. There is at least 4 regular people who revert it back whenever he changes it not just me. This guy just doesn't know how to follow the rules. I think he will just keep comming back ban after ban to keep trolling the article of a comic artist he doesn't like. sad.

At any rate I'm just not going to do anything for a few weeks. I don't want to play his games anymore.

Anon user avoided 3RR by using his alternate ip account. 69.243.39.117

I'm being harrassed by this user now going by the name The Liefeld Troll and his multiple accounts. I've asked him a few times to not communicate with me through my talk page. He has ignored all requests to leave me alone. Where do I take this complaint?--Timrock 12:07, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

For the record I am no an anon user.--65.220.54.20 00:08, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Very New Here

[edit]

I am extremely new to Wikipedia. I first visited it yesterday and went to an article that interested me. I tried my hand at making a change to it and it was almost immediately deleted. I tried again today and that was deleted too. The article was on the Socialist Workers Party of the United States. I added an external link that I thought was quite appropriate. It was a link to a discussion group that was directly related to the topic. Please bear with me and explain what I did wrong. Also I am not sure that I am leaving this question in the right place. Please forgive me if I have made another mistake. I have not yet created an account and this site is so complex that I am not sure that I can find my way back here very easily to see if I have an answer. So if you would not mind could you email me at redstarwvredstar@aol.com with an answer? 205.188.117.65 01:59, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, my apoligies. I appear to have made a mistake. If you examine this difference link: [1], you will see that you accidentally inserted the text "[http://www.example.com link title]" into the article. I reverted based on that only, believing you had simply been testing Wikipedia. I failed to notice that you had also inserted an external link. However, when you attempted to reinsert it, another editor reverted you again: [2]. My feeling is that the second revert may have been on the questionable relevence and/or notability of the Yahoo group in question. With only 14 members, it might seem to some that the link is being inserted solely to increase the notoriety of that mailing list, (there are many websites that attempt to use Wikipedia as an advertising platform, please see Wikipedia:Spam and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not).
If you believe the link is notable enough for inclusion, I would strongly recomend starting a conversation on the article's talk page.

Hephaestos's talk page

[edit]

I was going to mention Mike's use of AOL IPs to vandalise Hephaestos's talk page in his arbitration requestion, but I figured since you attempted to call Mike on it, I should run this by you first. Your thoughts? --Deathphoenix 14:11, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

User categorization

Greetings, func! Please accept this message as an invitation to categorize your user page in the category Category:Wikipedians in Pennsylvania and removing your name from the Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Pennsylvania page and the Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Philadelphia County, PA page. These pages will be removed when all users have been removed. Even if you do not wish to be placed in a category, could you take a moment to remove your name from the Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Pennsylvania page? Thanks!

[edit]

Hello, Func. I am sorry to see that you will not be posting for now. Why are you away from here? Why is that? Hopefully your exit is not going to be permanent (just like Hephaestos', Maximus Rex's, RickK's, etc.). Anyway, if you need back-up, just let me or any other users know. -- Mike Garcia | talk 21:50, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I would like to discuss your idea for requiring a legitimate email address & password, and then lobby vigorously for the implementation. --Trevdna 19:42, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK then, I'm adding myself to your list - come back soon! (although you won't be able to read this until you DO come back, so it's kinda pointless) --Trevdna 18:52, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Wall ball

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Wall ball, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

non-notable game

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Xenon54 (talk) 19:42, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Wall ball, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wall ball. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Xenon54 (talk) 13:13, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. RL0919 (talk) 21:25, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of change

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz talk 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
